Frequently Asked Questions
- The opening offer of a discount is for an introductory period and is available on selected room sizes only.
- The discount will run to the agreed time when it will then revert to the standard rate. i.e 50% off for 8 weeks will run for a period of 8 weeks until it then reverts to the standard rate.
- The minimum stay for any opening offer is 14 days; if you move out prior to the 14 day minimum stay period the offer will not apply to your storage or flexi office rental. 14 days notice to vacate is required to avoid penalty charges.
- The promotion is offered to new customers that do not currently have storage with us.
- You are only entitled to this offer once during your stay, regardless of how many additional rooms taken or room transfers made.
- If the Customer Licence is transferred into another name, the opening offer will not be reapplied. If your items are moved to a relatives unit then we reserve the right to remove the discount at any time.
- This promotion is for the duration of the discount stated and you can only choose one discount. This cannot be altered after the date of the move in i.e. you cannot then ask to switch to a longer term discount if you have already opted for 8 weeks half price.
- This promotion applies to self storage, vehicle parking and flexi office rental only.
- If you move out prior to the completion of your Opening Offer – and you have stayed 14 days or more – a proportion of the opening offer discount will be claimed back. i.e. If you take the 8 week option and then move out after 6 weeks, you will be refunded 2 weeks storage at half price.
- Billericay Self Storage / Big Bear Self Storage reserve the right to withdraw the discount at any time.
- This offer is not applicable for National Customers.
- This quote is valid for 28 days from the quote date.
You can access your belongings as often as you like within our operating times which you can find here.
We take security very seriously here at Big Blue Self Storage. To protect your goods we have the following measures in place:
- State of the art, 24-hour recorded CCTV
- Staffed Reception & Warehouse during our operating times
- Motion detectors
- Intruder alarms
Our minimum rental period is 14 days.
You can store your goods with us for as long as need to (from 14 days onwards).
Prospective customers are asked to provide forms of ID that allow us to check:
- Your full name
- Signature
- Date of birth
- Full permanent address
You must provide original documents, not photocopies, and one form of identification must contain a verified photograph.
All identity verification is done face to face, never over the phone or by email.
Yes, we offer storage to business customers as well. We offer great business packages for both short-term and long-term stays. Please speak to a member of the team for more details.
Insurance Cover Costs:
£1000 worth of cover – £2.50 per week
£2000 worth of cover – £4.50 per week
£3000 worth of cover – £6.00 per week
£5000 worth of cover – £8.00 per week
£7000 worth of cover – £10.00 per week
£10000 worth of cover – £11.00 per week
£12000 worth of cover – £12.00 per week
£15000 worth of cover – £13.00 per week
£2000 worth of cover – £14.00 per week

All payments are in advance of your storage rental. Most of our customers choose to pay by direct debit to prevent missing a payment. However we do accept most major credit and debit cards. We cannot accept cash on the first rental.
Yes. Of course if your plans change or you need a larger or smaller unit please speak to one of the staff members who will be able to help you. If you also receive a cheaper quote elsewhere locally we will try to price match under our price match guarantee.
The price you pay is determined by the size of the room you need and we will always get you into the smallest space possible. As the rental charge is calculated according to the floor area of the storage room, the smaller the floor area the less you end up paying.
Estimating the space you need isn’t as simple and straightforward as it looks. It depends on:
- What you need to store
- How stackable it is
- How high the ceiling of the storage room is
- Where the storage room is located in the storage centre, generally ground floor is more expensive
- What sort of access you will need since you may want to leave a walkway through the storage room to get to your possessions.
We can advise you on how to stack your goods and possessions to make maximum use of the space.
Yes, your goods are safe here at Big Bear Self Storage. We take every measure necessary to keep your belongings secure whilst under our roof. We have 24-hour monitored CCTV as well as alarms and a manned reception desk during our opening times. Additionally, our customers use their own padlocks & keys meaning nobody else can access another’s storage room or goods.
You can keep almost anything in one of our units, from boxes to sofas, tables to snowboards, bikes to memorabilia, almost anything and everything you have in your home or workplace that you don’t have the space for. As long as it’s not flammable, dangerous, perishable, unlawful and of course… alive!
Yes, you need your own padlock to ensure that you are the sole key holder for your room and so you can make sure that your room is securely locked at all times. We stock a range of security padlocks at Reception available to buy.
